The creative cover stitch capabilities in the Baby Lock Applaud allow you to take something from now to WOW! This purchased dress was easily upscaled by added cover stitching with decorative threads! The Applaud makes it easy to turn your basic garments into boutique style.

Supplies:
- Baby Lock Applaud Creative Cover Stitch Machine
- Purchased Knit Dress or other garment for embellishment. Click HERE for where to purchase the featured dress.
- Fun 12 wt. threads for your Wipers on the Applaud to accent your fabrics
- Tapestry Needle to pull threads to the back
Instructions:
- Set your Applaud up with a Cover Stitch Wide Stitch, with 2 threads in the Wipers.
- For this project, you will be stitching in the round. To learn more about how to manage threads and start/end your cover stitch refer to this SEWED video https://babylock.com/applaud-stitching-in-the-round-with-the-fabric-hemming-guide.
- Determine where you would like to embellish your garment. Manage your threads and begin stitching at a back or side seam.
- Stitch around the garment to complete the creative cover stitching.
- Repeat this process around any seams of the garment. For this example, stitching was done around the ruffled layers as well as the edge of sleeves and neckline.
- Adjust the machine to vary the stitches to a single cover or a cover stitch narrow. Vary the decorative threads by using thread in only one wiper. Or adjust your stitch length (keep between 2 and 4) to get a different stitch look.
- Once all your seams are stitched, pull the thread tails to the inside of the garment and secure them.
- Have fun changing the look of your plain garments with the Applaud!
