Use the Baby Lock Venture 2 to take something blank to beautiful! This fun and easy project showcases how you can easily embroidery hard-to-hoop items. The Baby Lock Versatile Magnetic Hoop makes that even easier. This cute cherry design is one of the built-in designs of the Venture 2 and adds a cute dimension to a plain store purchased sun hat.

Supplies:
- Baby Lock Venture 2 10-needle Embroidery Machine
- Included 5” X 7” hoop
- Optional Versatile Magnetic Hoop 4” X 4”
- Madeira® Rayon or Poly-neon thread for embroidery
- Baby Lock Tear-Away Stabilizer BLT103 or Baby Lock Stick Tear Stabilizer BLT102
- Baby Lock Hydromelt Topping BLS400
- Straw Hat Blank
- Marking Pen or Pins
Instructions:
To start, determine the placement of the designs on the hat! Use a marking pen or pins to mark the placement.
1. For either method, cut a piece of hydromelt topping about 4” X 4” that will be placed prior to stitching.
2. If using the 5X7 hoop, attach the Frame Holder A and adjust it for that hoop size.
3. Hoop a piece of Stick-Tear stabilizer in the hoop.
4. Score the stabilizer to expose the sticky stabilizer.
5. Align the hoop with the markings on the hoop and stick down to the sticky stabilizer. Layer the hydromelt topping over the hat brim.
6. If using the Versatile Magnetic Hoop, attach the Frame Holder F to the machine.
7. Attach the 4” X 4” Versatile Frame.
8. Remove the magnets from the frame.
9. To hoop the hat, slide a piece of tear-away firm stabilizer under the hat brim and layer the hydromelt topping over the brim.
10. Secure all the layers with the hoop and magnets.
On the machine,
1. From Category 2, Common designs choose design #28.
2. Touch Set.
3. Resize the Design using Stitch Recalculation. Resize to approximately 1.85” X 1.63 or desired size. Touch OK.
4. Rotate the design 180 degrees. Touch OK.
5. Touch Edit End.
6. On the Embroidery Layout, select the Camera View.
7. With the Camera View, use the move keys or touch screen to adjust the positions. Touch OK to close the camera.
8. Once positioned, select Embroidery. (remove any pins in the hat)
9. Assign the thread colors and stitch out the design.
10. Once embroidery is completed, repeat the process of hooping and placing the next marked section of the hat.
11. As you complete each stitch out, remove the hydromelt topping and any Tear-Away stabilizer.
12. Once completed, remove any excess topping and allow it to dry.
13. Enjoy your fun new hat!!!
