Instructions:
Getting Creative:
This project requires the purchase of the Hello Pouch Pattern from Knot & Thread Design. You can add your own creativity by showcasing some of your favorite decorative stitches on the fabric portion of the bag.
Stitching:
Read through all instructions for the bag construction. Instead of creating a grid of quilted lines, we will be using decorative stitches to hold all the layers of the fabric together.
- Remove the standard ankle on your machine and replace it with the Digital Dual Feed foot.
- Consult the instruction manual that came with your machine if you need assistance.
- Audition the stitches that you plan on using on a scrap piece of fabric, imitating the thickness of the fabric that will comprise your actual bag. This will help you determine if you like the stitches you’ve chosen and help you to plan out your project. It will also help in the next step by helping you gauge how close or how far apart to space your decorative stitching.
- Draw lines on your fabric that can be used to guide the stitching.
- Unplug your foot control and use the Start button to initiate sewing. Choose a speed that is consistent. This will help ensure that your stitches are consistent in appearance and make stitching more enjoyable.
- After stitching is complete, pick up with Step 2 in the instructions, Trimming the Quilted Piece and continue on from there, constructing the bag according to the included instructions.
