How-To It's in the (Gift) Bag!
Have you ever thought about sewing your own gift bags? It's a fun, fast, and frugal answer to gift wrapping! Using any size fabric, cut two squares that are the same size, or use one piece and fold it in half. Sew up the sides leaving an opening at the top. You can turn under a small hem at the top or trim it with pinking shears. Make them in all sizes from teeny-tiny to extra large. Pop your gifts in the bags, gather up the top, and tie with a ribbon Voila'! You're finished! You can add a tag, or, if you have nosey ones at your house, use a different color of ribbon for each person. No one will know which gift goes to which person! If you're really ambitious, you can sew in a casing and add a drawstring to each bag also. If you decorate with a theme, it's easy to coordinate your gift bags with the rest of your decor. You can use these bags for birthdays, anniversaries, or any time you give a gift! At Christmas while the rest of the country is gathering up torn wrapping paper that's destined for the trash or a landfill, you can gather up your bags, fold them up neatly, and put them away for next year!
