When learning to sew, beware of learning too many shortcuts too quickly. Learn the basics first, and then try one shortcut at a time. Shortcuts can be timesavers but if done incorrectly they will make the project look cheap. A good book to have at your fingertips is "Simply the Best Sewing Book."
