Best Daddy Framed Memento

Materials:

  • Baby Lock Tear-Away stabilizer

Tools:

  • Baby Lock® Flourish machine - Model# BLMFO
  • Letter It! from Amazing Designs®

Steps:

  1. Open the Amazing Designs App on your desktop and follow the next set of steps:

    1. To place the hoop on the workspace select the Tool tab and click on Select Hoop. Select the 130mm x 180mm hoop.

    2. Place a checkmark in the Rotate 90 field.

    3. Click on OK.

    4. Click on the Letter It! tab on the top toolbar

    5. Click on the Text icon.

    6. Click anywhere on the workspace to open the Text Input field.

    7. From the drop down Font menu select the “Freeform” font.

    8. Type in the following phrase:

      My hands are tiny now but as I grow they will always reach out to the best Daddy in the whole wide world.

    9. Change the Height to 8mm.

    10. Change the Slant to -20.

    11. Click on Apply for the changes to be applied.

    12. Click on File Save As a working file format (blf) and then save as the format that your machine will read.

  2. Set up the machine for embroidery.

  3. Retrieve the lettering design from its saved location.

  4. Hoop the Stabilize It! Tear-Away stabilizer with the fat quarter fabric centered in the hoop.

  5. Embroider the lettering design using black Madeira embroidery thread.

  6. Trim the section so that it is one inch larger on all sides then the cardboard backing.

  7. Stretch the embroidered section over a sturdy piece of cardboard cut to size. Pull the raw edges to the backside of the cardboard and tape to secure.

  8. To make the hand print place the child’s right hand on the ink pad to coat with ink. Place the hand on a blank piece of white paper to create the hand print. Let the ink dry. Wash the child’

  9. Cut the picture of your little one and the handprint to fit below the lettering. In the sample a 3” x 4” picture was used. Place the picture on the bottom left side and the hand print on the

  10. Adjust the picture and the hand print as desired.

  11. Place the back on the frame.
