Materials:
- all-purpose thread to match fabrics
- 7 inches of 45”-width fabric
- 4” x 40” piece of lightweight fusible interfacing
Tools:
Steps:
-
You’ll need to know your man’s neck measurement.
-
After printing the free pattern cut out your pieces and shorten the neckband piece to half of his neck measurement.
-
Tape piece 1 to piece 2 at the dashed line.
-
-
Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric aligning the long side of the interfacing to one of the long sides of the fabric. Cut 2 on the fold.
-
Pin pretty sides together.
-
Stitch around the entire perimeter with a ½” seam allowance leaving a 2” opening (For a bigger bow tie just use a ¼” seam allowance)
-
Clip your corners and valleys. Then cut your curves down to a ¼” with pinking shears (or clip your curves).
-
Turn right side out carefully pushing out the points as well as the curves on the bow tie. Press.
-
Close the opening by stitching machine or by hand and you’re done!
