  2. Serger Set-Up

    1. Use a 6-thread stitch. Set up serger for a 3-thread narrow and a coverstitch, using the C-2 and C-3 needles.

    2. You will be threading the needles with the Madeira Cotona thread and the chain loopers with The Madeira rayon.

On the 3-thread narrow overlock, using the O-2 needle, thread all-purpose thread in the needle. See serger set-up in above steps. Have the blade in the cutting position and the stitch selector set on "C."

    3. Set the Stitch Length from 1-1/2 to 2.

    4. Set the Stitch Width to 3.

  3. Assembly Instructions

    3. Pin one 18" piece of ribbon along one side of the 8" x 8" square, 2" in from edges with ribbon extending 5" off each end. Repeat for the other 3 sides.

    4. Using decorative thread in the chain looper, set up serger for a narrow coverstitch, using C-2 and C-3 needles.

    5. Sew, ribbon side up, guiding needles along the edges of the ribbon. Follow these steps for the remaining 3 sides of the square.

    6. Set up sewing machine to make buttonholes. Use Madeira Cotona thread to make buttonholes in the center of the 8" x 1-1/2" piece of fabric, one at each end.
