This simple quilt design is fast and easy to make as a gift or for a special little someone. Designer's Gallery speeds the quilting along and allows for a custom design.

  • 7/8 yard of 45” wide pink checked cotton fabric
  • ½ yard of 45” wide white cotton fabric
  • 1 5/8 yard of backing fabric
  • Decorative embroidery thread for quilting
  • All-purpose thread to match fabrics
  • Crib size quilt batting
  • 5 ½ yards of baby rickrack trim
  • Water soluble marking pen
  • Ruler

Alternate the pieced blocks with the floral blocks. Start with a floral block in the upper corner, alternate from that point. A floral block will be placed in each of the four corners.

  5. Sew one row at a time, piecing the blocks together and pressing the seams towards the floral blocks.

  6. Sew the completed rows together and press the seams well.

  7. Sew the border strips together as needed and press the seams.

  8. Pin the borders to the two sides of the quilt first, sew to the quilt and press the seams towards the borders.

  9. Pin the remaining borders to the top and bottom of the quilt, sew to the quilt and press.

  10. Layer, baste, and quilt as desired.

  11. Bind the quilt with the pink and white check fabric.

  12. Pin the baby rickrack to the quilt, right at the edge where the binding attaches to the quilt.

  13. Topstitch the rickrack to the quilt with matching thread.

For a baby boy simply change the color scheme and the quilting design.
