Steps:

  1. Use a ruler to draw a line across the stocking pattern 4 or 5 inches from the top; this will be the stocking cuff.

    1. Decide how large you want the toe of the stocking and draw a line across the pattern.

  2. Place stocking pattern on fabric and trace around the outline with fabric marking pen/chalk cut out leaving at least 2” on all sides around the marked stocking.

  3. Hoop stabilizer and spray with temporary spray adhesive. Mark placement of designs on stocking between the toe and cuff the fabric should look like it was purchased with the designs on it.

    1. Embroider the stocking with mitten or other holiday designs at random if you'd like.

  4. Stick fabric to stabilizer. (Note: Use the 160mm x 260mm hoop and move the designs to desired location using the changing pattern position arrows.)

  5. Cut away excess stabilizer and trim stocking to correct size.

  6. Use the other color fabric pieces to cut 1 ½” wide strips; they should be about 1” longer than the cuff. Straightstitch the strips together using ¼” seam allowance.

    1. Continue adding the strips until you have a section wide enough to go across the cuff area press seams.

  7. Make two prairie points to go below cuff. Pin top of prairie points ½” above bottom cuff line.

  8. Use a “flip and sew” technique to sew the cuff to the stocking. Do this by placing the cuff strip right side to right side of stocking with the top being ½” above the cuff line.

    1. Straight stitch on the cuff line flip the cuff strip up and press. The prairie points will be caught in the seam cut off excess cuff fabric.

    2. Use the same decorative stitch and thread to stitch on each seam line and across the bottom of the cuff.

  9. Select the dark teal fabric to cover the toe. Use the same flip and sew technique to attach the toe fabric. Cut the excess toe and cuff fabric from around the edge of the stocking.

  10. Cut stocking lining pieces and stitch them together leaving an opening along one side for turning and the stocking top open.

  11. Stitch the stocking pieces together rights sides facing.

  12. Align the stocking lining and the stocking together at the top pin in place.

  13. Stitch the top edge together. Remember to insert a fabric loop for hanging in between the lining and the stocking.

  14. Turn the stocking right side out through the side opening in the lining.

  15. Lightly press or steam. Whip stitch the opening closed.

  16. Place hot fixed crystals in desired location (optional).
