- Subcut into (36) 5" x 5" squares
Background Fabric: ⅝ yard

Binding: Cut (1) 2 ½" x WOF Strip
Backing for quilt sandwich: 27” x 36”
Outer pillow back fabric: 27" x 36"
Batting: 27" x 36"
Before Getting Started
- Read through all directions before starting.
- WOF stand for width of fabric and is assumed to be 42".
- All seams are ¼".
- HST = Half Square Triangle.
Four-at-a-time Half Square Triangles (HST)
1. Pair together (1) 5" background square and (1) 5" color square. (Fig. 1)
2. Stitch 1/4" from edge all the way around the entire square. (Fig. 2)
3. Use a ruler and rotary cutter to cut diagonal lines corner to corner. (Fig. 3)
4. You now have 4 half square triangles. (Fig. 4)
5. Open and press toward the dark fabric. Trim all HSTs to 3 1/2".
6. Sew two HSTs of the same color together to form a flying geese block. Press seam to one side. Repeat for all HSTs. (Make 54 flying geese)
7. Sew (6) flying geese blocks together to form a row. Repeat to make 9 rows. Press seam rows in direction of arrows.
8. Sew rows together. Press seams us up (towards points)
9. Prepare your top for quilting. Lay down the backing fabric, batting and top to form your quilt sandwich. Quilt as desired.
10. Lay your finished, quilted pillow top right side up. Place pillow back fabric on top, right sides facing. (Wrong sides face out)
11. Pin layers together and stitch ¼" around top, bottom and one side. Leave one short edge open. Clip corners. Use a zigzag stitch or serger to finish raw edges.
12. Turn pillow right side out. Bind raw edge using 2 ½" strip.
