1. Cut two front (s) and two back pattern pieces from fabric. For this sample, the same fabric was used for the exterior and the lining.
Note: The sleeves of the jacket pattern were eliminated.
2. On the pattern, the edge of the front piece was curved to give it additional detail.
3. Press the front fabric pieces to the SF 101 Shapeflex.
4. Using a Tape measure, mark some reference points on the vest. This includes the seam allowance and spacing for the designs.
5. Mark the bottom corner and top corner for help in placement.
6. Also, mark the center middle.
7. Place the fabric and stabilizer in the 10 5/8” X 16” hoop. If needed, you can float your project on top of the stabilizer.
8. On the Reflection, select design #2
9. Set the design.
10. On the Embroidery Editing Screen, resize or rotate the design as desired.
11. Try using the Color Visualizer feature under the Color Key to help you preview different color combinations.
12. If you find a different color combination, save that design to memory.
13. For this project, you can duplicate and layout the design for the vest point. Below a sample of the layout.
14. Touch Embroidery.
15. Using the 2-point placement option, place the design based on the marks on your fabric. You can use the any of the preferred marked points to help align your design
Note: You can also place each design one at a time if desired. You will need then stitch out each one design at a time.
16. If stitching multiple designs, use the Color Sort feature under Layout to help consolidate the thread changes.
17. Repeat this process for both sides of the vest front and then add another embroidery design to the back center back of the vest.
18. Once all your embroidery is done, remove the excess stabilizer and markings.
19. Switching to a sewing machine, complete construction of the vest per the instructions in the pattern.
20. Remember, this project skips the addition of the sleeves. You could always make this project as a sleeved garment. See alternate images in the downloadable instructions.
21. Once completed, add the jacquard trim around the edges.
