Using an Embroidery Blank:

Today there are some amazing embroidery blanks that can really elevate your projects.  This heirloom styled quilt top was inexpensive and nice quality.  Plus, since the quilting is already done!!  All you have to do is to place and embroider your favorite designs to create something really special.

For this project, the quilt was hooped with the largest hoop using tear-away firm stabilizer.  Then, use the camera scan feature or positioning stickers to easily place the designs. The built-in fonts were used to personalize this blanked as a special gift!  This one was a made special for my first Granddaughter!

Instructions:

The techniques used for quilting this project will work with a variety of quilts and fabric panels.  For this project, a quilt top was created to showcase areas that could be easily quilted using the Venture 2.  This is an easy quilt, but you could use another simple quilt pattern and embellish embroidery. This project is more about the placement and quilting than it is about the actual quilt!

Creating the Baby Quilt Top:

1.     The image in the PDF instructions is a rough image of the layout of a quilt pattern that could be inspiration.  The finished quilt has some additional scalloped shapes all created using IQ Designer.

2.     Cut fabric from your scraps or fat quarters as desired.  The larger blocks should be cut from the chosen background fabric.

3.     Seam together using a ¼” seam allowance pressing seams along the way.

4.     Once the top is completed sandwich the top with batting and backing.

5.     To allow for excess fabric when hooping, cut the backing 4-6” wider all the way around the top.

6.     Baste, spray baste or pin the top together to ensure that the layers have limited movement during multiple re-hooping.

7.     TIP: You can also stitch in the ditch on the quilt top prior to adding the embroidery.

Ways to Quilt in the Hoop:

There are so many ways you can quilt your projects using the features of the Venture 2.  The use the built-in quilting design or even purchased designs.  Use the decorative fills or stipple fill from IQ Designer. Create our own quilting patterns using IQ Designer and the shapes there to create frames. Use the Pattern Connection feature in the machine to create some unique patterns and combine the designs together to create a larger design.  Lastly, quilting order is a breeze using the Enhanced Border Function.

Each of these were placed using a different method of the Venture 2’s placement options.
