Materials:
- Aqua Set Tear-Away Stabilizer from Baby Lock
- Madeira Embroidery thread
- 1 ½″ Wide Gross Grain ribbon (orange and white striped)
- 1” Wide elastic
- Steam-A-Seam Fusible Web
Tools:
- Baby Lock Embroidery and sewing machine
- MonogramWorks from Designer’s Gallery®
Steps:

Open the program by clicking on the MonogramWorks icon on the desktop.

Click on the menu View and select Hoop Size from the drop-down menu.

When the dialog box opens select the 130mm x 180mm hoop. Place a checkmark next to Rotate 90 and click on OK.

Type the name in the Text field.

Click on the down arrow next to the fonts. Scroll down and select the Philly font or font of your choice.

With the letters selected type in the 115mm in the width field under the Size and Position Control

To create the name follow the next set of steps:

Click on File Save As and send to the media source in the format that your machine will read.

Click on the Print icon on the top toolbar and print out a template of the design.

Cut two pieces of ribbon 12″ long from the ribbon. Set one aside for now.

Pin the printed template to the center on one of the ribbons.

Hoop the stabilize and following the manufacture’s directions to water- activate the stabilizer.

Place the ribbon over the hoop being careful that the template is centered in the hoop and finger press in place.

Place the hoop on the embroidery unit.

Center the needle over the cross marks on the template. Remove the template.

Embroider the monogram design. Black thread was used

Remove the embroidered ribbon form the hoop and stabilizer.

Cut out a piece of the Steam-A-Seam the same size as the ribbon.

With wrong sides facing fuse the embroidered section to another piece of ribbon cut the same size as the embroidered section.

Fold the ends in ½″ and press.

Measure you child’s head and cut a section of elastic to fit In the sample an 8″ piece was used.

Machine sew the elastic to each folded end.
