Different From Many Other Baby Lock Machines

I just got my Allegro and wasted no time getting it running. I think I will enjoy using it. If you have owned a Soprano or another touch screen operated machine manufactured by Baby Lock, you may find this machine a little lacking in features. Time will tell. There is a learning curve as everything is set up very differently from their higher end computer controlled models so prepare for that. This machine at first glance seems like a straight stitch quilting work horse but the set up to sew is more time consuming as the auto threader is the old style and the bobbin winder has 4 steps. The knee foot lifter saves a little time but I'll miss the Soprano auto control. Allegro has a big neck with lots of room. This is my 4th machine from BL in 10 years. This machine feels solid but louder than my Soprano or Verve. As a long time user of the BL machines I can tell people with confidence when they are running well nothing can touch the performance but you have to be very disciplined about cleaning the bobbin cases between projects and changing needles. You also have to take them in for an annual check up or you'll find yourself in a repair situation and maintenance and repair on a Baby Lock machine is not cheap. ...

    Love my upgrade

I am upgrading from a Brother xr3340. I was looking for a machine with more generous throat space that could handle small projects, to big ones-such as quilts. The Allegro didn't disappoint! I got every upgrade that my Brother was missing. 4x the throat space, faster sewing, no skipped stitches when sewing at fast speeds (or at all for that matter), built in thread cutter, drop in bobbin, and still computerized unlike the Jazz II... I've even seen quilters use this machine on a long arm rig to topstitch their quilts. While very nervous about the larger price tag, I'm very happy I bought the Allegro. I struggled with tension issued the first session or two. I don't know if it just needed to sew a few times but I haven't had tension issues since. I'm currently working on a quilt for my daughter, it's going beautifully. I would purchase this again, and look forward to a second Babylok in the future and many many quilts for my loved ones....

    Baby lock allegro

Baby lock allegro is a nice machine. It does fall short in some areas. Just about all decorative stitches come at standard width and length. You cant use for quilting. Thread cutter not great either, only works for a few cuts then you must take inside apart and clean it. I thought it would be a little more high end for the price.
