Inspiration Toasty Toes Project

Some of us still have Christmas sewing to do, and this cozy project from Melissa of Melly Sews makes the perfect last minute gift!
When a heating pad just won't cut it because it doesn't warm both sides of both feet, these slipper-style foot warmers will do the trick. Filled with removable and microwaveable rice bags, they'll keep your toes toasty every time.
Supplies:
Shoe Size |
Bottom pieces - Cut 4,7 inches wide and length from table |
Top pieces - Cut 47 inches wide and length from table |
Women’s 5-7 | 10” | 7” |
Women’s 8-10, Men’s 6-8 | 12-1/2” | 9” |
Men’s 8-10 | 13” | 9-½" |
Men’s 10-12 | 13-1/2" | 10” |
Men’s 13-15 | 14” | 10-1/2" |
For rice bags, cut same number of fabric pieces 1" shorter in length and width than the outer pieces in the chart.
Steps:
Fold the longer pocket in half, right sides together, sandwiching the shorter pocket inside. Make sure the zipper teeth are pinched toward the top.
Stitch around 3 edges, 1/2" from the edge, stitching through the zippers and through all 4 layers of fleece. Backstitch for reinforcement at the beginning and end.
Fill rice bags about 1/3 to 1/2 full with rice.
Pinch the edge with the opening closed on each rice bag. Topstitch close to the edge to close the opening.
To use, insert the rice bags in the microwave for about 1 minute, then insert into the zipper pockets of the foot warmers.
