Baby Lock Ambassador Marcia Spencer's Monochromatic Set
Our ambassador Marcia, aka Keechii B Styles, keeps us current with her signature bold, stylish projects. While she creates many patterns herself, she also modifies commercial patterns to fit her inspiration.
To recreate this look, get McCall's pattern 7803 for the jacket, and New Look N6644 for the pants, then follow Marcia's process below!
I made this monochromatic faux leather Fall runway inspired look using two commercial patterns. The jacket pattern from McCalls was a pretty easy pattern to bring together. I did not make many modifications to the pattern and just followed the instructions. I did add length to the hem of the sleeve to make it longer and to give it a lantern sleeve look.
For the pants I used a commercial New Look Pattern N6644 view C. I left off the cargo pockets for this one and created a jogger style pair of pants. The waist and ankle cuff are elastic per the pattern.
Both pieces are made using a faux leather fabric. A couple of tips for sewing with faux leather; use a rolling foot on your machine and a microtex needle. Also, make sure your cutting tools are sharp enough, and try clips or tape to hold fabric together. Finally, press your seams on the lowest settings with a pressing cloth if needed.
