The handles on this backpack are what makes it stand out from the crowd and there are lots of choices if you just look around! For this project, I used a decorative webbing that I purchased from Renaissance Ribbons that really stood out and had high impact in the final product. You can find the webbing here.
On a second sample that I made, I used a plain white webbing and encased the raw edges of the webbing in 20 mm wide elastic that I ran through the 36mm Double Fold Bias Binder attachment. (See photos below). I purchased a collection of 20mm wide elastic from Amazon for my project. You can find it here.
I also added a pop of yellow at the top of the pocket on the front by running a piece of fabric through the bias binder for both the Mini and Standard, and used the elastic at the top and bottom of the side mesh pockets on the sample below. It really stands out and looks fun.
Tips for success:
* Use the Very Narrow Foot, BLQP-VN for zipper installation and for stitching the elastic accents on the handle if desired. * Do not add the binding to the Adjuster Straps as the thickness is too much to feed through the Ladder Buckle’s called for in the pattern.
